National Night Out Kick-Off Party

The Domain Austin TXNeighborhoods throughout Austin are invited to the 29th Annual National Night Out on Tuesday October 2, 2012.
There are two parts to the annual event. From 5 to 7 p.m., there will be a Kick-Off Party at The Domain with FOOD • GAMES • CRIME PREVENTION. Live music provided by The Loose Wheels. This event is free and open to all Austinites.
From 7 to 9 p.m., events such as cookouts, block parties and neighborhood walks will occur simultaneously throughout the City of Austin and nationwide. Citizens are asked to turn on their porch lights, lock their doors and spend the evening outside with their neighbors, City Council Members, police officers, firefighters, EMS paramedics and Code Compliance.
National Night Out is designed to:
1. Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness.
2. Generate support and participation in crime efforts.
3. Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police community relations.

The parking lot of the elementary school will be packed full of helicopters, police cars and motorcycles, SWAT trucks, ambulances, fire trucks and more. Live music from local bands Broken Rains and Loose Wheels will be heard throughout the day. Vendors from around Lakeway will be on site in support of our event and to offer food, drinks and more for all guests. In addition there will be a bicycle safety course, VIN etching, child ID fingerprinting, and a kids fun zone.

The Lake Travis High School Choir Booster Club has secured ACL Live at The Moody Theater for Music 4 Life, a full-day benefit concert and festival on April 23, 2011 featuring Austin-area youth bands, including DrumJam, Public Soul, Dead Swagger, Electric Society, Loose Wheels, Broken Rains, the Lake Travis Fiddlers, Gatsby, and Austin School for the Performing and Visual Arts.
